Sponsored by the Association for Women in Communications, the Clarion Awards understandably focus on women. Started in 1972, the award honors excellence in more categories across all communications disciplines.
Pollie Awards
The Pollie Awards are all about politics. They offer recognition for a range of media, many specialized to the world of politics such as attach pieces and a lot of emphasis on mailers.
Questar Award
A lesser known and lower key award, the Questar Awards offer rather straight forward trophies but also straight forward entries.
Zedman Awards
One of the newer players in the video awards scene, the Zedman Awards provides some refreshing updates to the area. With some fresh categories and a truly unique trophy, winning a Zedman is a way to break up the monotony on that trophy shelf with all those AVA and Communicator awards.
W3 Awards
The W3 Awards started with a focus on web sites and now includes marketing and videos. It’s trophy is unique and marketing programs. It is yet another creation of the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts. But, if you create websites and want recognition for that content creation, it’s a good candidate.
Davey Awards
The Davey Awards pride themselves on focusing on small businesses. The Davids versus the Goliaths. They are slick and one of the many awards created by Academy of Interactive & Visual Arts — a company that seems to keep coming up with more awards to issue. But, the trophy is nice and the program well-managed.
Academy Nicholl Fellowships
The Nicholl Fellowships is one of the most prestigious writing awards there is — perhaps the most prestigious for non-professionals. Screenwriters hoping to break in to Hollywood (and ones that may have lost some favor) head here to be (re)discovered. The focus is totally on film writing and as such is itself not useful for business-to-business or direct consumer facing content makers. And even though it is sponsored by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, there is no trophy and you can not say you won an Oscar.
Videographer Awards
This is the first in our series on video awards that members can enter.
The Videographer Awards is one of the original video awards and still sticks to those RGB roots. Unfortunately, while the competition is fine, the trophy could use some updating. The Lucite clapper board while a nice touchstone is a bit on the low end in a world of shiny and tall trophies.
